Coleman's® Wichita Facility "Off the Grid"

At Newell Brands, we are committed to making our products and operations more sustainable. As part of that commitment, the Newell Brands’ Coleman® manufacturing facility based in Wichita, Kansas has become the company’s first site to participate in a utility-scale renewable energy program.

The local program empowered the Wichita site to promote renewable wind-generated electricity in April 2021, which will contribute to Newell’s 2025 greenhouse gas reduction goal of 30 percent and generate an annual savings of $85,000. Utilizing this program and its wind-powered electricity over the last seven months, we are proud that the site is now net-zero electricity.

The Wichita, Kansas facility is the fourth largest consumer of electricity in the Newell Brands global portfolio. To put this scale of electricity consumption in perspective, in 2020, the facility consumed more than 48 gigawatts of electricity, which is enough electricity to power more than 41,000 homes for an entire year. This magnitude of electricity consumption makes the conversion to 100 percent renewable wind powered electricity largely impactful.

Energy is one of the largest impacts on the climate and natural resources – we are excited to celebrate the leadership demonstrated by our Coleman® facility to minimize that impact. Newell Brands continues to work actively with our manufacturing sites to improve efficient energy management, set reduction goals and implement energy saving projects. We recognize our responsibility to model sustainability best practices in our operations and communities and intend to continuously improve our operations for a more sustainable tomorrow.
